Paul Gillebaard again puts his creative talents into creating a unique, fresh spin on the space race of the 60's, including my Gemini mission, providing for an entertaining ride through history. USSR Hoax is fun fiction, but inspired by some actual events. No doubt this book will help new generations to embrace the future through real world space exploration.
With a plot idea so audacious that you have to keep reading to see how he pulls it off, Gillebaard rockets the reader through an all-out-fun story. There are enough clever details in USSR Hoax from the real Apollo era, it’s clear the author had some frank conversations with the actual Apollo astronauts. Entertaining, engrossing, and recommended.
Gillebaard doesn't disappoint in this engaging read...written with close attention to detail and an excellent dose of action, you'll find it hard to put down.
Scott Gunnerson wrote - The story was great to the last word and I wanted more...a space age thriller!
A tale of high-tech subterfuge and deceit played out on the world's stage...chock full of rockets, launches, harrowing landings, and spacewalks that all space geeks will love. An enjoyable, entertaining ride.
China Hoax was fantastic...Space Hoax was riveting. I could hardly put them down. There were some twists and turns in the plot that I didn't expect. I thoroughly enjoyed them.
The characters are as real as the ones that launched from Cape Canaveral. With technical detail woven into this novel of intrigue, it is compelling to the last page.
Paul Gillebaard is a great story teller. Moon Hoax had excitement, entertainment and a couple of good laughs. How does someone write a story like this? The Chinese plot was dazzling and it almost worked, had it not been for this kind of James Bond in space and his hilariously brilliant Russian sidekick. And in the end, even the Taikonauts get to save face. I don't recall any other completely fictional story around current or previous space programs. Everything before (like The Right Stuff or Apollo 13) was based on true events. Gillebaard may have created a totally new genre here. A small step for a writer, but a giant leap for fiction!
Gillebaard writes with enthusiasm, humor, empathy, and the precision of a keen mind. He captures the heart and soul of mankind's moon landings having grown up only a mile from the Johnson Space Center when they were controlled. His authentic technical detail is woven into an intriguing, complex plot, which is dynamically driven by motivated, complex characters. Moon Hoax is a first rate space adventure that pulls you forward right to the last page--an impressive achievement for any author yet even more so for a first-time novelist.
China Hoax tells of a modern space race between America and China, a riveting read of intrigue and excitement, much recommended.
For a debut author, China Hoax is written with authentic details, enthusiasm, with solid characters and an intriguing while complex plot. A must for anyone who enjoys space adventure, moon landings, NASA, and a bit of romance.
Space Hoax picks up where China Hoax left off and launches yet another fun romp through space that mixes real world reflections of our current space program with classic story telling.
